Warhammer 40,000: Boltgun II Locks October 14 Release - And Mick Gordon Just Made the Final Boss Rock Even Harder
Auroch Digital and Big Fan Games just put a date on the calendar that a lot of us have been waiting for. Warhammer 40,000: Boltgun II launches October 14, 2026 on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam, with a Nintendo Switch 2 version following shortly after.
If you loved the first Boltgun, the chunky, pixel-blooded, unapologetic boomer shooter that turned an Ultramarine into a one-man heretic blender, this is the news you wanted. The sequel looks bigger, meaner, and faster, and the new release-date trailer does not mess around.
The story picks up right after the original. Ultramarine Malum Caedo and Sister of Battle Nyra Veyrath are sent to an isolated star system to investigate a spike in Chaos activity. What they find is Vashtorr the Arkifane, a daemonic demigod of inventors, engineers, and forbidden machinery, waking a colossal infernal engine at the heart of a planet. The resulting explosion wrecks a huge chunk of the Imperial fleet. Now the two of them have to hop from world to world, burning out the corruption that powers Vashtorr’s machines, and try to shove the Arkifane back into the Warp.
You pick one character for the whole campaign. Malum is the tank: slower, tougher, chainsword-lunge into the middle of a horde and start deleting things. Nyra is the opposite, agile, flamer-and-meltagun focused, built to dart through the mess and leave ash. Both have their own weapons and abilities, and the game is designed so each playthrough feels different. There’s a branching campaign with unique levels depending on the path you take, new biomes (hive cities, jungle swamps, icy facilities), and a wider arsenal than the first game.

Enemies are getting the same treatment. Nurglings and cultists are back, but they’re joined by Bloodletters and Juggernauts of Khorne, Daemonettes and Emperor’s Children Tormentors of Slaanesh, Death Guard, and more. All four Chaos gods are in the mix this time.
And then there’s the soundtrack drop. The trailer features the first taste of an original track by Mick Gordon, the man behind DOOM (2016), DOOM Eternal, and Wolfenstein: The New Order. His piece, “Ascent of the Arkifane,” is a cameo reserved for the final boss fight. That is an absurdly good pairing. If you’ve ever wanted Gordon’s particular brand of industrial dread and high-octane metal married to 40K’s grimdark, this is it.
A free demo has been on Steam for a while if you want to try both characters before October. Wishlist the full game if you haven’t already.

I played the original Boltgun a lot. It was one of those games that just clicked, the movement, the weapon feel, the way a single Space Marine can look like a walking apocalypse when the pixel blood starts flying. Seeing the sequel get a firm date this close, with a second playable character, bigger levels, and Mick Gordon on the last fight, is exactly the kind of news that makes you start clearing the calendar. October 14 cannot get here fast enough.
For the Emperor!
