House of the Lost: Revived Brings a 2012 Mobile Roguelike Back From the Dead
Developer / Publisher: F5 Games LLC | Launch Date: July 16, 2026 | Platforms: iOS (App Store), Android (Google Play) | Genre: Action Roguelike, Dungeon Crawler |
Back in 2012, F5 Games launched House of the Lost for iPad and iPhone. It had shifting levels full of Halloween monsters, screen-filling boss battles, weapon crafting, and secrets hidden behind almost every wall. It was one of the first roguelikes on mobile, praised by TouchArcade as "the closest thing to iOS Spelunky." Then, in 2019, it disappeared from the App Store.
On July 16th, 2026, it comes back. House of the Lost: Revived is a full rebuild of the original, bringing back every enhancement and bug fix from the game's 7-year original run plus modern updates for 2026.
The Story Behind the Revival
F5 Games, an indie studio based in Oklahoma with over 20 years of game development experience, detailed the revival process in a dev blog post on July 6th. The game didn't disappear because of poor sales or lack of interest. It disappeared because mobile platforms never stop moving underneath the games that run on them. After several warnings from Apple about outdated frameworks, the game was removed from the store in 2019.
Rather than move on to the next project, F5 Games spent the time rebuilding House of the Lost from the ground up. The result isn't just a re-upload. It's the definitive version of the game, with every feature, fix, and improvement from the original run plus modern touches that make it feel right at home on current hardware.
What You Get

The core loop is pure roguelike: your sister vanishes into the House of the Lost, and you go in after her with a slingshot and a lot of nerve. Every run reshuffles the layout with new enemies, new items, and new ways to die. Four distinct haunted environments each have their own enemies, hazards, and a boss battle waiting at the end.
The weapon crafting system is what sets House of the Lost apart from other mobile roguelikes. You combine what you find into new tools of destruction, and discovering the right combinations can turn a doomed run into a legendary one. Walk through walls, chase down clues, and pull the House apart to find its secrets.
Features
- Random levels that stay fresh - No two runs are the same; the House reshuffles layouts, enemies, and challenges every time
- Weapon crafting - Combine what you find into new tools of destruction, and discover the combos that turn a doomed run legendary
- Multiple control styles - Directional shooting controls by default, or swap to original "NES style" button controls for an extra challenge
- Four boss domains - Each with its own enemies, hazards, and an epic battle waiting at the end
- Secrets everywhere - Walk through walls, chase down clues, and pull the House apart
- Leaderboards and achievements - Challenge friends for the highest score or the fastest clear
- Offline and all yours - No connection required, and no ads, no gacha, no energy timers. Ever.
The Pricing Model

This is worth calling out separately because it's increasingly rare on mobile. The free download includes the first two levels and the first boss, playable as many times as you want. A single one-time purchase unlocks the entire game. No subscriptions, no ads, no in-app currency, no energy timers, no gacha mechanics. The game also works fully offline.
In a mobile market dominated by free-to-play mechanics and microtransactions, this is a deliberate choice from a studio that has been making mobile games for over two decades. The pricing model respects the player's time and wallet.
