GameMinr Digital Demo Disc 03: December 2025 - A Disc Full of Gifts

The Christmas season is here, and we’re stuffing your stocking with seven free demos (and one full free game!) that deserve a spot on your Steam Deck, PC, or consoles this month. Genre: HD-2D JRPG

Our cover game for the December disc is Square Enix’s latest game in the Octopath series, which just launched earlier this week. This demo lets you play for 3 hours of game time and start off your new adventure in Orsterra without spending a dime. You'll experience a brand-new story set long before Olberic and Primrose, complete with gorgeous HD-2D snowfields and the excellent turn-based battles Octopath is known for. And, progress from the demo carries forward to the full game, so you can get started now and then continue where you left off.

Formula Legends (PC · Nintendo Switch · Playstation 5)

Genre: Arcade-to-Sim Racing

Around the world, F1 fans are gearing up for the title deciding last race of the season that takes place this weekend (Let's go Lando!), and that makes it the perfect time to try out Formula Legends. It is an excellent blend of arcade and sim racing that sits beautifully between Mario Kart floatiness and F1 25 simulation.

It has a retro inspired art style, but that means it runs well on lots of systems, and it feels great to drive. The demo gives you access to one track with a few different configurations, as well as 3 different racing eras so you can compare cars across the decades. It only took me a few tries to go from the back of the grid to standing on top of the podium. Great stuff!

Why Demo It? F1 championship weekend fever? This demo is your instant fix: three cars, a beautiful track, and great handling make this one a winner.

Lucid (PC)

Genre: Pixel Art Action Platformer

Dive into LUCID, an action platformer set in a crystal-punk world shattered by dissonance. As young Sentinel Oenn, you'll absorb powerful Crystal Arts like blades, spears, and axes to master acrobatic platforming, intense boss fights, and enemy hordes while enjoying the awesome pixel art and bumping soundtrack.

Why Demo It? It feels like a great blend of Celeste platforming and Metroidvania action. The pixel art is great and the music rocks. Give it a shot.

Is This Seat Taken? (PC · Mac · Linux)

Genre: Cozy Logic Puzzles

This one is a tiny, wholesome puzzle game about arranging quirky passengers on trains, planes, and boats so everyone gets their perfect seat. Simple rules, adorable art, and that “just one more level” magic that’s ideal for winding down after Christmas dinner.

Why Demo It? Pure cozy comfort food that your brain will thank you for. And no calories!

Skate Story (PC · Mac)

Genre: Atmospheric Skateboarding Adventure

Ollie, kickflip, and grind your way through the ash and smoke of The Emptylands as you take on a seemingly impossible quest as a demon made of glass and pain. The demo’s buttery physics, incredible music, and dreamlike vibe make every ollie feel like art.

Why Demo It? Skating has never felt this smooth or sounded this good. This is a demo you’ll want to replay just for the soundtrack, plus the full game releases on Dec 8th!

Minishoot Adventures (PC · Steam Deck Verified)

Genre: Zelda-Inspired Twin-Stick Shooter

Imagine top-down Zelda exploration fused with bullet-hell shooting: adorable pixel art, dungeons, bosses, upgrades, and you'll realize why this one is hard to put down. It runs like a dream on the Steam Deck and feels like a long lost GBA or PSP classic.

Why Demo It? Zelda + twin-stick shooting is such a great idea. It's Steam Deck Verified and a ton of fun, plus the demo is basically the first world for free!

A Pinball Game That Makes You Mad (PC · Mac · Linux)

Genre: Rage-Inducing Pinball with Personality

Exactly what it says on the tin: a pinball game with the most sarcastic, unhinged announcer you’ll ever hear. Every missed shot is met with glorious mockery. You’ll laugh, you’ll swear, you’ll keep playing just to see what he's going to say next.

Why Demo It? The funniest half hour you’ll spend tilting this month. The announcer alone is worth the download, but the game will also keep you hanging on for 'just one more try' at making it over that ledge.

Bonus Full Game: Warhammer 40,000: Boltgun – Words of Vengeance (PC)

Genre: Boomer Shooter + Typing of the Dead Mashup

Yes, really: purge heretics by typing 40k quotes at lightning speed while bolter sound effects blare. A few weeks ago Words of Vengeance received a massive free update that doubled its content, and it's still all completely free! It’s absurd but also a weirdly perfect way to keep your WPM sharp over the holidays.

Why Play It? It's another full game for FREE. Type “FOR THE EMPEROR” while you chainsword chaos demons, and you might even level up a skill or two IRL.
