Lumines Arise (PC, PS5)

Genre: Rhythm-based Puzzle

From the creators of the award winning Tetris Effect, Lumines Arise reinvents the classic block-dropping puzzle with a synesthetic twist, fusing addictive gameplay, pulsating audio, and eye-popping visuals into a journey of sound and light. Players rotate and drop 2x2 squares to form squares of four or more blocks that match on the music's timeline. Drop blocks on the beat and chain combos to tracks that perfectly match the background visuals and react to your inputs. It's a meditative and fiendishly replayable evolution of the original game, blending Lumines' baseline with an audio/visual experience you won't find anywhere else.

Why Demo It? Feel the addictive pulse of Lumines' return and sync beats and blocks across 3 levels before the full game's release on November 11th. Headphones or surround sound recommended!

Bubsy 4D (PC)

Genre: 3D Platformer

The wise-cracking bobcat returns in Atari's Bubsy 4D, a full-throttle 3D revival thrusting Bubsy into intergalactic chaos with new moves like gliding, wall-running, and yarn-ball bombs. Traverse sprawling space stations, asteroid fields, and alien worlds, collecting yarn spools while dodging lasers and quirky foes. And the best part, it's actually good! It's a love letter to 90s platformers with modern polish, and that signature Bubsy sass.

Why Demo It? Just that fact that Bubsy is back is reason enough. You'll get to sample the tutorial and 3 levels from the main game, hopefully that will keep your interest until this one launches in 2026.

The Secret of Weepstone (PC)

Genre: First-Person Dungeon-Crawling RPG

In Talesworth Game Studio's The Secret of Weepstone, lead villagers into a forsaken keep for loot and glory, rolling dice for combat, traps, and skill checks in a hand-drawn black-and-white homage to 80s D&D. Navigate the dungeons of Weepstone in first person and lead your party through turn-based battles that harken back to old-school RPG classics like Wizardry and Eye of the Beholder. It's a gritty and tactical dungeon crawler oozing with tabletop charm, where every dice roll could mean triumph or the tomb.

Why Demo It? Check out the awesome hand-drawn black and white visuals, and roll dice in D&D-inspired dungeons. The demo includes 7 party members and a unique variation of the game's opening dungeon. Tabletop fans, this one is for you.

Constance (PC)

Genre: 2D Hand-Drawn Action-Adventure Metroidvania

Btf's Constance casts you as a painter trapped in her crumbling psyche, using a magical brush to battle ink-born horrors and restore color to a decaying inner-world. Traverse interconnected realms with fluid platforming, paint-based combat (splatter projectiles, canvas shields), and ability unlocks like brush extensions for reach. It's a narrative-driven game with emotional beats that touch on creativity and loss, all in a gorgeous, hand-animated Metroidvania emphasizing exploration and discovery.

Why Demo It? Paint your escape in this brush-wielding Metroidvania, and enjoy the awesome visual style. The demo takes you through the early game so you can learn the ropes before this one launches on November 24th.

Bonus Track: Darkenstein 3D - Full Game! (PC)

Genre: Boomer Shooter

Rowye's Darkenstein 3D delivers that old school, skill-based, FPS action we all love, channeling Wolfenstein and Doom with tight gunplay, and lots of enemies to take down. But the best part, it's all completely free! That's right, this love letter to the shooters of old is not just a demo, it's a full game download for PCs on Steam. You'll be dodging enemy projectiles in brutal arenas, scouring the map for keys and secrets, and taking down the Nazis in a fast-paced campaign. You really can't beat that.

Why Download It? It's the full game, for FREE! If you're a retro FPS fan, why wouldn't you grab this one and give it a try. The Nazis aren't going to defeat themselves!

Bonus Track: Star Wars Outlaws (Nintendo Switch 2)

Genre: Open-World Action-Adventure

Ubisoft's Star Wars Outlaws puts you in scoundrel Kay Vess's boots for high-stakes heists across the galaxy's underworld. You'll travel from Tatooine cantinas to Kijimi streets. It's all here; stealth sections, blaster fights, speeder chases, and faction dealings that shape your outlaw path. It's set in the original trilogy era, my personal favorite, and includes a dynamic reputation system that keeps track of your standing with the many underworld factions. The Switch 2 edition is also an amazing technical showcase for Nintendo's newest console. It's incredible to see what Massive Entertainment has been able to pull off here, and with this demo all Switch 2 owners can give it a try to see what their new handheld is capable of.

Why Demo It? The demo gives you 3 hours of gameplay on Tatooine, so you can test run your new scoundrel lifestyle. You'll also get a chance to gawk at what is possible when developers spend the time and effort to optimize a big open world game for Switch 2. Don't miss it.

Looks like your weekend is set! From beat pulsing puzzles to old-school dungeon crawling, these demos will keep you busy until it's time to head to Thanksgiving dinner. One of the things I always loved about the demo discs of old was the mix of games that would be included. I would end up playing a game in a genre I normally wouldn't have tried. So don't be afraid to experiment and take all of these games for a spin, you might just find your new favorite.
